Kambo Safety: Contraindications, Side Effects & Screening

Kambo is powerful, and it is not right for everyone. That's why every client fills out a health questionnaire and talks with me before booking.

How I keep you safe

  • A health questionnaire and a call before every first ceremony.
  • A test point for first-timers, and small doses.
  • I stay with you through the entire ceremony.
  • I'm certified in CPR.
  • For some conditions, I ask for clearance from your doctor.

Kambo is not for you if you have or have had:

  • Heart conditions: heart disease, heart surgery, enlarged heart, pacemaker or implanted defibrillator
  • Stroke, aneurysm or blood clots
  • Brain hemorrhage or epilepsy
  • Very low blood pressure
  • Psychosis or bipolar disorder (current or within the last 5 years)
  • Addison's disease
  • Organ transplant
  • Active ulcers, esophageal bleeding or varices, recent throat or esophagus surgery
  • Chemotherapy or radiation now or in the last 6 weeks
  • Recovery from major surgery
  • Pregnancy, breastfeeding, or giving birth within the last 6 weeks
  • Age under 18

Talk to me first if you:

  • Take any prescription medication, especially for blood pressure, heart, mental health or seizures
  • Have a history of an eating disorder or are on a strict diet
  • Have liver disease, Crohn's disease or IBS, or reflux
  • Are in active addiction or withdrawal

This list is not complete. Always disclose your full health history and medications.
